Recently, we visited the beautiful region of Puglia to learn more about its world-famous olive trees and the people behind its incredible olive oil.
During our time in San Basilio, in the Salento region, we discovered the heartbreaking impact of the Xylella disease, which has devastated millions of ancient olive trees across the landscape. Seeing the scale of the loss was both moving and eye-opening.
What inspired us most, however, was the resilience of the local farmers. Rather than giving up, they have been replanting with disease-resistant olive trees, helping to restore the land while protecting generations of olive-growing tradition. It was wonderful to see young groves flourishing alongside the centuries-old trees that remain.
Behind every bottle of Puglian olive oil is a story of heritage, perseverance, and hope. We’re so grateful to have learned more about this remarkable region and the people working so hard to preserve its future.
